The Portsmouth Police Department is attempting to identify a male suspect who stole a vehicle on July 1, 2018 and then abandoned the vehicle several days later back in Portsmouth.

On July 1, 2018, at approximately 1 AM, a 2006 Ford Explorer was stolen from Emmanuel Dr. and later found to have been driven to New York where the suspect was learned to have entered a New York convenience store to make a purchase on July 4th. During the purchase, the suspect placed what appears to be an out of state ID on the counter. The ID appears to the format of a NY or NJ license.

The suspect allegedly drove the stolen 2006 Ford Explorer back to Portsmouth where the vehicle was recovered by Portsmouth PD on July 6th.

On 9/19/18, the Portsmouth Police Department reported the capture of the suspect in this case.
