The Cranston Police Department is attempting to identify a suspect responsible for an armed robbery that occurred at the LaFrontera Convenience Store, 1522 Broad St., Cranston, RI.
On Tuesday, 8/8/17, at approximately1615 hours, a suspect entered the store and approached the clerk demanding money and cigarettes. The suspect displayed a black semiautomatic handgun that was in the waistband of his pants as he made demands to the clerk. The suspect fled south on Broad St. with an undisclosed amount of money and packages of cigarettes.
The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5’11” tall with a slim build. He was wearing a black baseball styled hat with white lettering, a black tee shirt with blue lettering on the right chest area, gray colored camouflage pants, dark colored sunglasses and white shoes or sneakers.

The Cranston Police Department reports the capture of the suspect in this case. He is identified as:
WILLIE RATHBONE (31) of Providence, R.I.
RATHBONE has several aliases including Isiah Rathbone and Willie McDowell. He is currently at the ACI awaiting trial on robbery charges in both Cranston and Providence.
