The Smithfield Police Department is attempting to identify a male suspect involved in the theft from a parked vehicle and subsequent fraudulent use of the stolen credit cards.

On Thursday, 3/3/2016, at approximately 1:09 PM, the Smithfield Police responded to the parking lot of Apple Valley Mall (445 Putnam Pike) in the area of Planet Fitness for a larceny from a vehicle complaint. The victim reported an iPad, laptop, cash, his RI Drivers License, and numerous credit cards were stolen.

At approximately 1:38 PM, a fraudulent purchase was made at Best Buy in North Attleboro, MA in the amount of $443.03. Pill+Black speakers and Beats Pill 2.0 Red were purchased.

At approximately 2:09 PM, a fraudulent purchase was made at Kay Jewelers in the Emerald Square Mall for $1,999.99. A mens “Link gold chain” was purchased.

At approximately 2:59 PM, another fraudulent purchase was made at Home Depot in Attleboro, MA in the amount of $1,003.65. Several tools were purchased.

It appears to be the same suspect in all of the above incidents.

A possible suspect vehicle is an older maroon/red Dodge Durango pick up truck.

The Smithfield Police Department has identified the suspect in this case as:

FREDERICK HOSMER (44), with a last known address in North Providence, RI.
