The Middletown Police Department is attempting to identify a male suspect involved in the theft and fraudulent use of a credit card at several locations in Middletown and Newport, RI.

On Wednesday, 8/17/2016, between 2 and 4 PM,  a vehicle parked at Second Beach in Middletown was broken into.  Taken was a silver HP Laptop, Sony camcorder, and a handbag containing a Bank of America debit card.

The stolen Bank of America debit card was later used at Walmart to purchase girls baby clothes, diapers, and Newport cigarettes. The male suspect attempted to use the stolen card at Stop and Shop in Newport, however the card was declined.

The suspect left Walmart on a bicycle.

IDENTIFIED:

The Middletown Police Department has identified te suspect in this case as:

NIKO A. PLANTE (27), from Newport, RI.  PLANTE has previous addresses in Warwick, Cranston, Providence, and East Providence, RI.

CAPTURED:

Middletown Police report the apprehension of NIKO A. PLANTE (27).  PLANTE turned himself in to police on 9/28/2016.

PLANTE was also charged with a similar incident in Providence by Rhode Island State Police that occurred on 9/18/16.  (RIMW 160119)
