The Westerly Police Department is attempting to identify a male suspect involved in a bank robbery that occurred at the Bank of America, 9 Franklin St., Westerly, RI.

A male suspect entered the bank and handed a written note to the teller. The note that the suspect handed to the teller was from a different bank which demanded that the teller remain silent and give him all the hundreds, fifties and twenties. The suspect then took and undetermined amount of cash and the note and fled on foot going through the bank parking lot towards East Ave.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 5’8" tall, medium build, wearing a green rain parker and a tan fishing style hat.  It is unknown at this time if the suspect used a vehicle to leave the area.

CAPTURED:

The Westerly Police Department reported the capture of STEPHEN SILVA (45) on 12/10/16.  SILVA was arrested after being identified for robbing the Mascoma Savings Bank in Hartland, Vermont. 

SILVA, from Springfield, MA., was taken into custody at an unknown location and has now been implicated in 18 other bank robberies on the east coast, including 2 bank robberies in Woonsocket, RI (see RIMW #160158)
