The Rhode Island State Police is attempting to identify a male suspect involved in theft of credit cards from a secured vehicle while parked in the Edward Stree Parking Lot in Newport, R.I.

On 10/10/2017, the victim's vehicle was parked and secured in the parking lot when a suspect broke into the victim's vehicle, and stole a Lenovo "Ideapad" laptop along with a Bank Newport debit card. Numerous fraudulent transactions were completed by the suspect at several locations in the Newport area totaling nearly $3000.00

Video surveillance captured a suspect using the stolen debit card at Discover Newport. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male having a mustache and goatee wearing a black Adidas t-shirt. At that time, the suspect fraudulently purchased a RIPTA day pass.
