Warwick Police Detectives are currently investigating an ATM skimming incident which occurred at Greenwood Credit Union, 2669 Post Road, Warwick, RI.
A skimming device is used to steal and store credit/debit card information from the credit card mag strip, and later can be copied onto counterfeit credit cards or used to make fraudulent transactions from unknowing victims. The remote camera is used to record the PIN code when entered by the victim.
As a result, the suspects were able to conduct multiple fraudulent withdrawals between Friday 2/27/15 and Monday 3/02/15 at several area banks and credit union ATM's.
The male suspect depicted is seen making several fraudulent withdrawals from a Bank RI branch ATM in Warwick.
In January, a similar incident had taken place Smithfield Bank RI drive thru ATM. (RI Most Wanted Case# 150008).
In February, a second incident took place in East Providence Bank RI lobby ATM.
Customers should always be aware of their surroundings along with notifying police of anything suspicious attached to ATM's.
